WHERE
IS HE NOW?
This page usually
features more than one II Class 1976 alumnus. However, the subject gave a lot of very
interesting information about his high school days, work and family and even included a
couple of very nice pictures. The Webmaster decided to
dedicate an entire page for him and is very happy to share his thoughts with you.
FERDINAND C.
SARDIDO
Ferdie always stood out in high school as he
was probably the tallest in his class if not the whole school. He was the guy that
Mr. Barbon always positioned in the middle of the back row in class pictures. He and Benjamin Camet were the best
of friends.
He
liked the comedy skits and the drama presentations in the classroom where he felt relaxed
and knew everybody. He enjoyed the History classes and admired the competency of his
English and Literature teachers. Among classmates and friends, Ferdie was well-known
for his calligraphy-like handwriting. He vividly remembers going to Joey Livelo's
house after school hours to play chess and basketball with his classmates (hindi pa uso
noon ang Nintendo and videotape! ). He always made his mother proud when he was in
the monthly honor roll and he really felt good whenever he got exempted from the final
exams. He cannot explain why he almost failed in Ms. Yolanda Algoso's Geometry class
(almost everybody had a hard time with it!) when it pales in comparison to what he is
doing today. He completed his higher education at the Mapua Institute of Technology where he got his Civil Engineering degree.
On his last year in college, he started his working career as a junior engineer
with a firm in Makati. He then joined the US Army Corps of Engineers in South Korea.
He was with them from 1984 to 1987 and it was during this time when he met
Geraldine Francisco of Quezon City who later became his wife. He worked as a bridge
engineer with a consultant in HongKong from 1989 to 1998 until he decided to settle with
his family in Canada. He and his lovely wife have two boys, Mark Joseph (11) and
John David (7). They live in a suburb of Toronto, close to another II Class 1976
alumnus, Mary Grace Samaniego. Here's what he
thinks about the upcoming Silver Jubilee in 2001: "Twenty five years ago na
pala agad iyon! Parang kailan lang. I am grateful sa mga teachers natin na
humubog sa atin lalo na sa English at character ('yung mga nagpapasulat sa
blackboard). They made learning fun instead of as a competition with one
another". (111999)
